                                        Miss Bales’s Classroom

I teach sixth grade English, reading, spelling and social studies in Mill Creek Valley Middle School Paxico, Kansas.

I started my career in this district in 1974.  We were two K-8 buildings in Alma and Maple Hill, a 6-8 and a K-5 building in Paxico, and a 9-12 building in Alma as well.

I started out as the K-8 librarian for all four buildings.  I later worked at Alma full time as the librarian and then a full time teacher of English, spelling, reading, social studies, and math during various time periods working with all the grade levels, but eventually focusing on six through eight.  When we changed to a junior high I returned to Paxico as the math teacher.  Five years ago I returned to language arts and social studies at the 5-6 building in Paxico.

I have lived in Alma, Kansas for thirty-seven years now.  I grew up in Pratt, Kansas and graduated from Pratt High School, attended Pratt Junior College, and then graduated with first my bachelor's degree in elementary/secondary education and then my master's degree in library science from Emporia State Teachers' College, now Emporia State University.
